Racines d’Enfance

The project

Construction of a second Racines d’Enfance kindergarten in Ivory Coast in the village of Akekoi: fenced space of 250 m2, composed of 3 classrooms, a courtyard, a refectory, a toilet block, a kitchen, a space storage, an office and a vegetable garden. This system will allow children aged 3 to 7 to acquire a solid foundation in order to integrate primary school in the best conditions and to receive a balanced meal per day, which may be the only one for certain students, thanks to the implementation of a school canteen supplied by vegetable gardens. This food supply is a major asset in the fight against malnutrition which hinders learning and increases the risk of mortality.

The association

Racines d’Enfance’s mission is to build nursery schools in rural Africa to improve the living conditions of children, prepare them to successfully enter primary school and allow mothers to free up time to develop economic activities. . The schools are self-managed via a management committee made up of teachers and representatives of administrative authorities, which ensures the sustainability of the structures and local citizen engagement. Today, 1,200 children aged 3 to 7 are educated in our 12 schools and benefit from a balanced meal per day.
